Grouse Mountain
- The Peak of Vancouver
 |
|
Just out Vancouver's backdoor,
Grouse Mountain, 6400 Nancy Greene Way (the northern extension of Capilano
Road), is the city's most convenient ski area.
Several runs are lit for night skiing. Grouse Mountain is famous for it's
Swiss-built Superskyride cable car which operates daily from 9 am to 10
pm.
|
|
|
The lift remains open all year, and Grouse
Mountain has a full schedule of summer activities. From the top - 1 100
m - you can see all of Vancouver, the coast, part of Vancouver Island
and northward over the mountains. You can rent mountain bikes at the lift
top lodge or strike out on a trail. If you 're not feeling athletic, there
is a chain-saw sculture tour and a small movie theatre with a complementary
film at the lodge. There are restaurants at the top and bottom of the
mountain.
|
| |
|
| If
you take the Superskyride, make sure it's a clear day. If it's raining,
foggy or at all hazy with low clouds, forget it - by the time you reach
the top you won't see a thing. Go in late afternoon, then you can see the
city by day and by night. |
